Statement of Faith

Truth's Calling is an interdenominational ministry that espouses conservative theology with heavy emphasis on Penal Substitutionary atonement, Complementary views, the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman, and the infallible nature of scripture.

1. The Scripture

We believe the Bible — the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments — is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. Scripture is God-breathed (2 Tim. 3:16–17), wholly true in all that it affirms, and the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. We affirm the literal-grammatical-historical method of interpretation and reject any interpretive framework that undermines the plain meaning of the text.

2. The Trinity

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three coequal, co-eternal persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each person is fully and wholly God, distinct in person yet one in essence, will, and divine glory. We affirm the historic Trinitarian faith as expressed in the Nicene and Athanasian Creeds.

3. The person and work of Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man — the eternal Son of God who took on human flesh through the virgin birth. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a substitutionary atonement for sin, rose bodily from the dead on the third day, and ascended to the right hand of the Father. He will return personally, visibly, and bodily to judge the living and the dead and to consummate His kingdom.

4. The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, fully divine and personally active. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates the hearts of the elect, indwells and seals all believers at salvation, and empowers the church for godly living and witness. He illuminates the Scriptures and produces the fruit of Christlikeness in the believer's life.

5. The nature of humanity and sin

We believe God created humanity — male and female — in His own image (Gen. 1:27), for His glory and in right relationship with Him. Through Adam's historical fall, sin entered the world, and all people are born spiritually dead, morally corrupt, and justly condemned before a holy God. Apart from divine grace, no one seeks God, and no one can save themselves.

6. Salvation

We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone. Justification is a forensic declaration in which God imputes the righteousness of Christ to the repentant sinner and forgives all sin on the basis of Christ's atoning work. Salvation is not of works, cannot be merited, and cannot be lost. All who are truly saved will persevere in faith to the end.

7. The church

We believe the universal church is the body of Christ, composed of all who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and united to Christ by faith. The local church is the primary expression of this body — a community of baptized believers who gather regularly for the preaching of the Word, the administration of the ordinances (baptism and the Lord's Supper), prayer, fellowship, and the equipping of the saints for ministry.

8. Gender, marriage, and complementarian order

We believe God created humanity as male and female — two distinct, complementary sexes — as a reflection of His wisdom and design (Gen. 1:27; 2:18–25). This distinction is biological, permanent, and good.

We believe marriage is a covenantal union between one man and one woman, ordained by God before the fall, and a picture of Christ's relationship to the church (Eph. 5:22–33). Within marriage, the husband is called to servant-leadership and self-sacrificial love, and the wife is called to willing submission — not as a subordination of value or dignity, but as a God-ordained ordering of roles that mirrors the eternal relationship of the Son to the Father.

We believe the offices of elder/pastor are reserved for qualified men (1 Tim. 2:12–3:7; Titus 1:5–9), in accordance with the creation order and apostolic instruction. Women are not thereby diminished — they are indispensable to the life, health, and mission of the church — but Scripture establishes a complementary distinction in role and authority within the home and the church.

9. Last things

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead — believers to eternal life in the presence of God, and unbelievers to eternal conscious punishment (Matt. 25:46; Rev. 20:11–15). We believe in the personal, visible, bodily return of Jesus Christ. We affirm the reality of a physical heaven and hell, the final judgment, and the eternal glory of the new creation in which God will dwell with His people forever.

10. The Gospel and the Great Commission

We believe the gospel — the good news that Christ died for sinners, rose from the dead, and offers forgiveness and eternal life to all who repent and believe — is the power of God for salvation (Rom. 1:16). The church is commissioned to proclaim this gospel to every person, in every culture, through every available means. Evangelism is not optional; it is the defining mission of the people of God until Christ returns.
