Atheism
Atheism is the belief that there is no God and the universe is naturally occurring, and key claims of Christianity that involve the intervention of God are unequivocally false. On this page we will examine the Atheistic theories and objections to God.
Big Bang Theory
Big Bang Theory
The Big Bang theory holds that, from a single point, all matter in the universe expanded, forming the universe itself. The universe itself started as the primeval atom, the single atom that contained the entire mass of the universe, and, in a burst of energy and heat, the mass expanded across the universe and cooled down to what we have today.
Atheists have used this theory to argue that God did not create the universe, but that mass itself is eternal, and that the universe will eventually experience a "heat death," indicating maximum entropy in which energy is spread too thin to be productive, and the universe will turn cold and dark.
This theory was first proposed by Georges Lemaître, a Belgian Catholic Priest, and he intended it to have no conflict with belief in God.
The Big Bang Theory, in essence, of a sudden creation of the universe, is not inconsistent with the account in Genesis 1 of God creating the universe in 6 days. The Bible even maintains that the universe is expanding:
'It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.'
Isaiah 40:22
The Big Bang Theory has one continual struggle: what was before the Big Bang. The prevailing theory is that energy and mass were created during the Big Bang and that there was nothing before it. This leads to a simple problem that atheists try to define nothing as something, because if there was nothing before the Big Bang and a reaction started the Big Bang, then there would be something, and something isn't nothing. It defies the law of logic that something cannot come from nothing.
The Big Bang theory correctly states that the universe began suddenly and is expanding, but it fails to explain its origin because it requires an unexplainable beginning. God created the universe in 6 days and is still expanding it; accordingly, he is the one who created the universe, because he was capable of standing outside of it.
Evolutionary Theory and Abiogenesis
Evolutionary Theory and Abiogenesis
Natural Selection maintains that variants in the gene pool can result in species developing shared characteristics over time to better adapt to their environment, through generational mating of survivors with superior survival features. Evolutionary theory maintains that, through natural selection, the species of the world share a common ancestor and have split off over time as natural selection radically changes species over extended periods. Microevolution is change within a species, and macroevolution is change that results in a new species. Abiogenesis is the theory that life arose from non-living matter, specifically through a chemical reaction.
To start, this is not a dispute over microevolution, as it is observable in the natural order, as in the example of the finches Darwin observed in the Galapagos Islands. The disagreement concerns Macroevolution and Abiogenesis, which directly challenge the Biblical account of the creation of animals and mankind in Genesis 1.
The transitional fossil record, or "missing link," has never shown a species-to-species change, such as a fish becoming a mammal or vice versa. According to Darwin, macroevolution is gradual, yet we repeatedly see jumps in the fossil record and lack a consistent transitional fossil record between species.

The random chemical reaction that resulted in abiogenesis has never been replicated in any lab, despite using the necessary components that would have been available during the necessary period.
The Fine Tuning of the Universe
It is at this time essential to explain the fine-tuning of the universe, as it is necessary to explain why we see evidence of God in the created universe. Several statistical impossibilities lead us to believe that the constitution of the universe, or even the possibility of life, is beyond human power, apart from divine intervention. Avowed Atheist Fred Hoyle, an English Astronomer, said when presented with the fine-tuning of the universe,
"Some super-calculating intellect must have designed the properties of the carbon atom, otherwise the chance of my finding such an atom through the blind forces of nature would be utterly minuscule. A common-sense interpretation of the facts suggests that a super intellect has monkeyed with physics, as well as with chemistry and biology, and that there are no blind forces worth speaking about in nature. The numbers one calculates from the facts seem to me so overwhelming as to put this conclusion almost beyond question."
One of the most common statistics in fine-tuning concerns the cosmological constant, Λ, which measures the energy density of the vacuum of space and allows the universe to expand. If the energy were too large, the universe would fly apart, and if the constant were too small, the universe would collapse into itself. So what do astrophysicists believe is the likelihood of the constant being exactly right under random circumstances, 1 in 10¹²⁰? For context, you would have better odds:
- picking out a single atom in the universe, as there is 1 in 10⁸⁰ in the observable universe
- Filling the universe with sand and picking the correct grain of sand, it would take 1 in 10⁷⁰ grains of sand to fill all of space
The cosmological constant isn't the only place we see this statistical improbability as the universe is in a low entropy state, or orderly, that permits life, the likelihood of the statistic is 1 in 1 in 10^(10³⁴⁰), a number which Sir Roger Penrose, an English mathematician physicist and Nobel Laureate, called "a number so large no could write it down in the universe".
We also see these impossible statistics: the likelihood of gravity being correct is 1 in 10⁶⁰, and the possibility of the electromagnetic field being correct for atomic bonding is 1 in 10³⁷. Time after time, the closer we examine the fabric of the universe, the more we see it as being impossible without direct intervention.
Atheists will often raise the fine-tuning argument and the anthropic objection, which holds that, since the universe appears fine-tuned for life, it's only because people exist to observe it. The error with this objection is that it proves nothing; it takes the conclusion that we exist and uses it to justify not explaining why that conclusion occurred. The common analogy that is used for the anthropic objection is if you had 500 people in a firing squad and they all missed, you would only be able to wonder how they all missed, since you survived, but that still doesn't explain how they missed, leaving the truth unsatisfied. Infinite Universes
Infinite Universes
One claim that has gained popularity is the infinite universes theory, which holds that there are an infinite number of universes. This theory has grown in popularity because it is the atheists' only answer to the Christian fine-tuning argument. In essence, the fine-tuning argument would be invalidated because there are an infinite number of universes, so there must finally be one that meets the statistical improbabilities. Yet this leaves us with the same origin questions as before, which you can read about on the page "Is God Real and Who is He?", since this universe making mechanism still needs to be explained how it can keep producing universes and it would still need a creator outside of itself not subject to the limitations of the universe.
Moral Atheism
On this page, we will now shift from the scientific contests of Atheists to their moral contests. You might be asking yourself why would Atheists concern themselves with the morality that God sets forth in the Bible and by apparent actions if they don't believe in God? Truthfully, more people believe in God than choose to admit it; they instead hide in their "Atheism" in order not to submit to God's call to righteousness in their lives. They would rather live a lie and sin than live a truth and repent.
Is God Immoral?
Is God Immoral?
God is the author of morality. When we protest God's actions as immoral, we are doing so sinfully, since he is a perfect, uncorrupted being, and we have been subject to the corruption of sin in this world.
Who Created God
Who Created God
God has created this universe and, in doing so, is not subject to the laws of this universe. This universe requires a creator or a force behind every event and being in it, yet God is not subject to this law and is outside of creation. To put it simply, God is uncreated.
Belief in God is for the ignorant
Belief in God is for the ignorant
A common accusation is that belief in God is for the simpleminded who are not able to cope with the nihilism of the world and lean on a crutch. This accusation ignores the immense amount of evidence in support of a monotheistic God as well as the extraordinary nature of the Bible itself.
You just believe what people around you believe
You just believe what people around you believe
While cultures will embrace a belief and cultural Christianity does cause there to be false professions of faith it does not circumvent mans ability to objectively come to conclusion when evidence is delivered.
If God is good, why is there so much suffering? Why did God allow Evil?
If God is good, why is there so much suffering? Why did God allow Evil?
God did not create an evil world; he declared his creation to be good. It was only through the actions of man that corruption entered the world, humanity became a fallen race, and the world experienced corruption. God has allowed evil to remain to allow free will to exist amongst men; he has intervened during times of evil and has stayed his hand. His actions and inaction are not thoughtless but instead are perfectly weighed against the future and a broader perspective that we, as humans, are incapable of seeing.
Why doesn't God just show himself
Why doesn't God just show himself
He has shown himself through nature, through his written word, and came down himself in the form of Jesus Christ. Yet we destroy nature, we reject the bible, and we killed his son. the reason for disbelief has never been doubting his existence, its rejecting his commands. Even the demons believe and they still reject them and they have seen and conversed with him directly.
Was Jesus even a real person?
Was Jesus even a real person?
Jesus is the most documented person in antiquity, and even atheistic scholars have ceased doubting the reality of his life and that he died on the Passover by the order of Pontius Pilate. The disciples who followed Jesus in life went to their executions, testifying to his existence and Godhood. In the end, 11 of the 12 disciples died brutal deaths, while the last, John, died in exile. Jesus' brother James testified to his life even after being against him while Jesus was alive. The books Luke and Acts of the Apostles were written by a gentile historian who interviewed witnesses and sent his findings to someone living in Rome. The most credible historian of the time, Josephus, testified to his existence, as did the Roman historian Tacitus, less than 100 years after Jesus' death. There is greater evidence of the existence of Jesus, a peasant who was executed during a time of upheaval than the roman emperor Tiberius who reigned at that time.
If God loves us why did he create Hell?
If God loves us why did he create Hell?
Hell is not an unrighteous place; it's where God pours out his wrath upon those who have broken his law, and we have all broken the law of an infinitely just God and deserve an infinite punishment. The real wonder is why God ever created Heaven, as none of us have done anything to deserve endless mercy and grace; it was only through God's love that he offered them.
